This blog is the first blog that I have created using WordPress. I wanted to create a blog that looked very similar in design to my website home page at lewiscarter.co.uk because this blog is a subdomain of the site and links directly to it. Having the designs look very similar helps to make the blog look like a subsection of the main site.
As this is my first WordPress site I decided I would use one of the pre-made themes for my blog instead of making a theme my self as I am not very familiar with php. After some searching I found a theme that incorporated the same simple site layout, as my main site, called Sublime Press. This theme has black header with a large bold font with pink highlights for the menu and links.
I used the editor in the appearance tab on WordPress to change the css for the page. First I changed the background colour for the header by changing the hex colour to match the header of my website. Next I changed the header font, to do this I changed the google fonts link to add my desired font. I then changed the font size, font family and font weight css rules match the text I used in the header. Lastly I changed the menu colours and hex colour of the footer to match the footer of the main site.
I feel I have been able to mirror the design of my main site quite well and I am happy with the results, I’d like to thank the creator of the theme Matt Amplifiii for making a great theme with easy to edit code.
